Hello! Update time!
Hello there! Just popping in to tell you all that the project is going great! Translating is good as ever and I've even managed to get some of the alternative choices for the PS2-only arcs in Higurashi Matsuri done too! ^^

My goal is to have Watanagashi-hen finished and ready for you all to read by at least the end of June! And soon as it's done I'll be getting started on Tatarigoroshi-hen!

I want to thank you all for been so patient for me. I'm the only one translating now but I will see this whole project through to the end! ^^

I hope the translation is doing well :D
Hey, I've been following this for about half a year now. I'd definitely love a better translation than the MangaGamer one, and this one looks very promising. I'm sure you're doing your best and I'll support you to the end.

I have a question though, since you're continuing the work from where the Sonozaki twins left off, are you still using "keeyute" as the translated form of Rena's slurring ("kaii") of the word "kawaii"? (Please forgive me if I've forgotten the exact spelling of any of these.) I know it wasn't your team (who are fantastic by the way) that was responsible for this, but do I really need to explain why using "keeyute" instead of "cuuuute" or something similar is the most painfully awful decision ever made? I hate to be pessimistic (well, actually, I love to be pessimistic, but let's put that aside for now since Higurashi is something I love) but that single word plus the inferior save system (which unfortunately I don't believe you can change?) would be enough to make me stay with MangaGamer's version. And I'm sure you understand how awful that is.

To end on a more positive note, I'm not entirely sure how much of this is rumour and how much is confirmed, but apparently When They Cry 5 will begin after Rose Guns Days concludes with Season 4. This means we should be looking at an August 2014 Japanese release for Episode 1 :D

Should I clarify once more that I really love the work you're doing and can't wait for the Watanagashi release?

Re: I hope the translation is doing well :D
Hi there!

First of all, I apologize for how damn long it's taken me to reply to your comment! I've been pretty busy as of late and I never got round to writing out this reply.

Answering your question, nope, we won't be using "keeyute". Syberiawinx told me how no one really liked the twins translating it that way and so I decided to go down a different route. I translate it as plain old "adorable". :) Similarly, I've chosen not to translate "desu" into "yes" and keep it as "desu", as well as "nano desu".

Other translation changes we've made are calling Angel Mort a diner rather than restaurant. We wanted to call it a cafés since that's what it actually is, but Onscripter doesn't show the é, so we went with diner in the end. I hope this is okay and not too much of a change?

Thank you for your lovely post. I'm still working on Watanagashi-hen. Slowly, I know, but I'm confident enough in the translation that when it's finished everyone will be happy with it! ^^

Re: I hope the translation is doing well :D
No problem on the reply time, I've just been away from the internet for a week. Still looking forward to your translation, of course!

The solution for Rena's love of cuteness certainly seems acceptable. I'm not sure about the "desu" and "nano desu" though, since there's no real English equivalent in common conversation I'm not sure it important to include anything at all. Did MangaGamer do anything? I don't recall them doing anything for the desu/nanodesu. I guess it's a problem when catchphrases don't really translate properly across languages...

Diner seems a bit too "formal" considering Angel Mort is... you know... Angel Mort. There aren't any obvious alternatives though, and I'm sure you've already thought through all these things. If you have any other things you're not sure about I'd be perfectly happy to offer my opinions, and I'm certain a lot of other fans would as well.

Keep doing your fantastic work :D
